Dr. Iezzi iscurrentlyAssociate Chair of the ClinicalPractice in the Department of Ophthalmology, Chair of theOphthalmology Platform andOphthalmologyTechnology and EquipmentCommittee, Director of the Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowshipand DeputyDirector of Regenerative Ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic where he has been since 2009.Dr. Iezzi hasbeen developing methods for subretinal implantation of iPSC-RPE stem cells and autologous retinaltransplants as well as point-of-care biosensors for identification of protein levels in liquid biopsies.Dr.Iezzi is the recipient of the Ronald G. Michels Fellowship, the Heed Ophthalmologic Fellowship, theKnapp-AOS Fellowship, the Visionary Award from Foundation Fighting Blindness and was awarded theDistinguished Alumnus Award in Teaching and Research from Rutgers University in 2015.
